Established in 2024, the purpose of The Martial Arts Life Skills Project (M.A.L.S) is to help young people and, where appropriate, vulnerable adults, further develop key life skills and to promote their emotional and physical wellbeing.
Years of research on the subject of positive youth development and sport, indicates that sport has great benefits when it comes to self-development in young people. Alongside the reems of published papers that speak of how sport can be a vehicle for improving quality of life, Letitia Allsopp, the founder of the charity, and Benjamin Allsopp, one of the directors, actively participate in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai and have seen first hand the positive effects combat sport can have, not only on the youth, but those of every age.
